Small wooden artisan chest
This charming chest is made of pine wood and decorated with hand-carved appliqués, by El Maestro Gilberto Granja, in the Barniz de Pasto technique. Masters of this technique pluck young sprouts from the Mopa Mopa tree. After being cleaned, crushed, and boiled down, the putty is stretched by hand, like a taffy, to create thin sheets of appliqués which are then applied to the chest. Finally, designs are hand carved to depict the indigenous cultures, flora and fauna of Colombia. You can see him in action on our Artisans page!
There are six (black) velvet lined drawers. Use it to house jewelry, family heirlooms, keepsakes that keep you centered - or simply to light up the room.

Care: These are ornamental pieces and can be dusted off with a damp cloth and dried with a soft, dry cloth. They should never be submerged in water or exposed to corrosive or abrasive elements.
